Kingston, Jamaica – August 02, 2025 - The Digicel Foundation officially launched its 2025 Salute 21 Grants campaign on Saturday, August 2, at the vibrant Gordon Town Citizen Association Pineapple Festival. The campaign offers 17 community groups across Jamaica the opportunity to access up to J$2.5 million in funding for impactful community projects, with a special focus this year on digital literacy and the silver economy, which are projects uplifting senior citizens.

As part of its 21st anniversary celebrations, the Digicel Foundation will award one grant per parish, and an additional three grants for special needs-focused initiatives.

“The silver economy is growing, and our seniors deserve every opportunity to thrive in a connected world,” said Miguel “Steppa” Williams, Director of Strategic Planning and Community Development at the Digicel Foundation. “We’re proud to support projects that make life better for older Jamaicans, whether through technology training or senior entrepreneurship programmes.”

Williams also emphasised the importance of building digital skills within communities.

“In today’s world, digital literacy is very essential. These grants are about empowering people with the tools to participate meaningfully in today’s digital society,” he added. “We want to see projects that make tech more accessible and inclusive, especially for those who’ve historically been left behind.”

The launch event brought the Foundation face-to-face with community members in Gordon Town, where local vendors showcased everything from pineapple-infused goods to cultural performances. Festivalgoers were encouraged to visit the Foundation’s booth to learn more about the application process and receive guidance on developing strong proposals.

The Salute 21 Grants application period is open from August 2 to September 2, 2025. Community-based organisations, citizen associations, youth groups, schools, farm associations, special needs groups, and non-profits across all parishes are encouraged to apply. Projects must demonstrate sustainability, measurable community impact, and strong alignment with the Foundation’s areas of focus.

Applications must be submitted online via the Foundation’s website: https://www.digicelfoundation.org/jm/en/apply-for-a-grant/build-jamaica-grants
