Working Together to Build Jamaica

At the Digicel Foundation, we believe in the power of communities to drive positive change. That's why we focus on funding projects that make a tangible difference in the lives of Jamaicans. From educational and agricultural projects to social enterprises and skills development, our 20 for 20 for 20 Build Jamaica grants are designed to build a better Jamaica for all. Overview

For two decades, Digicel Foundation has been at the forefront of community development in Jamaica. Our 20 for 20 for 20 Build Jamaica Grants are a testament to our unwavering commitment to empowering local communities and fostering sustainable growth. We will be supporting 20 impactful projects across the island with a grant of US$20,000. Projects funded under Build Jamaica grants may fall under the following categories:

Social Enterprises

Support for innovative ventures that address social or environmental challenges while generating sustainable revenue. This category may include funding for social enterprises focused on issues such as poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment.

Youth Development

Projects aimed at empowering and supporting the youth population through initiatives such as mentorship programmes, leadership training, educational workshops, and recreational activities.

ICT Development

Funding for projects that focus on enhancing access to and utilization of information and communication technologies (ICTs) within communities. This could include initiatives such as establishing computer labs and providing digital literacy training.

Environmental Sustainability

Projects aimed at conserving natural resources, mitigating climate change impacts, and promoting eco-friendly practices. Projects in this category may involve reforestation efforts, waste management programmes, and community gardens.

Special Needs Support

These are projects and initiatives that cater to the unique needs of individuals with disabilities and special needs. This may include accessibility improvements, specialised training for caregivers, and programmes aimed at proting inclusion and empowerment.

Education

This category provides support for projects that improve access to quality education and enhance learning outcomes for individuals of all ages. This could include infrastructure improvements for schools, educational materials, teacher training programmes, and initiatives to promote lifelong learning within communities.

Other community-based activities

Other initiatives that uplift marginalised communities and promote inclusive development.

Funding Guidelines

Applications can be submitted online through the Digicel Foundation's official website by clicking the "Apply for a Grant" button..
Our focus areas include youth development, ICT development, education, social enterprises and support to persons with special needs.
Our grants target registered not-for-profit groups and social enterprises. We don’t typically award individual grants or scholarships. If your organisation is not registered with the Companies Office of Jamaica, we encourage you to submit proof of registration with the Council for Voluntary Social Services, RADA, SDC, the Ministry of Education and Youth or other professional organisations.
Individuals seeking assistance for personal reasons, this includes scholarships, sectarian or religious organisations whose services are limited to members of one religious group; religious programmes; endowment funds, development campaigns or funds directed towards deficit reduction or operating reserves; fundraising events or sponsorships (walk/run, golf tournaments, sports teams, tickets, tables, benefits, raffles, souvenir programmes, advertising, fundraising dinners, etc.); trips: conferences; seminars; festivals; one-day events (unless they are part of an approved programme activity); documentaries, videos or research projects/programmes (unless this can be shown to align with the Foundation’s funding objectives and criteria directly; trust funds; organisations that channel the funds received to third parties and organisations formed to combat specific diseases and or conduct medical research.
Organisations can apply for grants of up to $2,500,000 for a Build Jamaica grant.
