PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO 30 JAN 2026 – The Lydian Singers recently joined forces with the Digicel Foundation to help bring hope to the residents of the Mary Care Centre, which was tragically destroyed by fire last year. Since then, The Lydian Singers have hosted a series of charity concerts and engaged corporate partners to support efforts to rebuild the Home. The Digicel Foundation answered that call with a TT$20,000 donation, enabling the Home to purchase six new beds, a patio set, and a commercial dryer.

Chair of The Lydian Singers, Bernard Shepperd, SC, expressed gratitude for the donation and emphasised the importance of helping the young women of the Home regain stability and comfort as they await the completion of rebuilding efforts. The Woodbrook-based Home is a sanctuary for pregnant girls and first-time mothers between the ages of 12 and 17, where they are taught to care for themselves and their newborns, and receive additional skills training and support. The fire left the young residents displaced and living in temporary accommodation.

“At the Foundation, we remain dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities. We hope this contribution provides immediate relief and helps the residents begin anew when their Home is rebuilt later this year,” shared Cindyann Currency, Head of Operations at the Digicel Foundation.

The Digicel Foundation’s donation was gratefully accepted by Ann Mary Extavour, Secretary of the Eternal Light Community, on behalf of Deborah de Rosia and the Mary Care Home.
