THURSDAY 31 JULY 2025, PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – “This initiative significantly enhances our commitment to creating an inclusive city where every child, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to play, learn, and thrive. The Digicel Foundation's ongoing support helps us build a more accessible and equitable environment for all. We deeply appreciate their partnership in making Port of Spain a better place for our children,” shared His Worship Chinua Alleyne, Mayor of Port of Spain, during the unveiling of the new inclusive play equipment at the Play and Fitness Zone located at Nelson Mandela Park, St. Clair Avenue.

The Nelson Mandela Park now features innovative inclusive play pieces such as a wheel-through monkey bars, wheelchair-friendly merry-go-round, and a sensory pod designed for neurodivergent users. These additions underscore the city’s dedication to fostering environments where all children can enjoy the benefits of play.

Investing in inclusive play equipment exemplifies the Digicel Foundation’s unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion. It also serves as a shining example for other communities and organizations to follow.

“Inclusion Matters!” emphasized Roger Pedro, Digicel Foundation Board Director. “The Foundation continues to champion this message through its numerous initiatives and partnerships. Play is fundamental to nurturing well-rounded, healthy young individuals, and we must do our part to ensure that no one is left behind.”

The Digicel Foundation invested TT$139,500 in the new play pieces, and has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with City Corporation to ensure ongoing maintenance and accessibility for all users.
