PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – 23 SEPTEMBER 2025: The Digicel Foundation has officially launched its Call for Applications for the establishment of Innovation Labs in Special Schools across Trinidad and Tobago. Through this initiative, five (5) Special Schools will be selected to benefit from state-of-the-art technology hubs designed to support digital learning, foster creativity, and enhance teaching and learning outcomes for students with special needs.
The Innovation Labs Programme, now in its 3rd year, has transformed classrooms by providing students and teachers with access to technology-driven resources, building digital literacy skills, and encouraging greater inclusion in the education sector. "This initiative represents our ongoing commitment to education, inclusion, and empowerment,” said Penny Gomez, CEO Digicel Foundation. “By partnering with Special Schools, we are ensuring that students of all abilities have the tools to thrive in a rapidly advancing digital world.”
Special Schools registered in Trinidad and Tobago are invited to apply. Successful applicants will receive up to TT$100,000 in tech equipment and upgrades. Each lab consists of computers, smart devices, and learning software. The programme also includes training and capacity building for teachers to integrate technology in the classroom. Partners will receive ongoing technical support and monitoring from the Digicel Foundation.
Applications opened on September 22, 2025, and will close on October 10, 2025. Schools can apply by completing the official application form, available via the Digicel Foundation website.
