Since its inception last year, the Digicel Foundation has invested over TT$100,000 into a partnership with the Caribbean Kids and Families Therapy Organization (CKFTO) and their Puberty, Sex and Sexuality (PSS) programme, with hopes of effectively addressing concerns parents have about topics related to sex and adolescents living with disabilities.
The programme which addresses all concerns, myths and truths about the sexual behaviours and mannerisms of the adolescent with a disability is coordinated and led by CKFTO Educational Psychologist, Toni Betaudier.
The format of the programme includes HOPE (Helping Our Parents to become Empowered) sessions for parents in various special needs organizations across the country and two one-day parent/caregiver education sessions, one in Trinidad and the other in Tobago.
