Building Jamaica, One Volunteer at a Time
A hallmark of the Digicel Foundation is our all-staff volunteer force—dedicated team members who give their time and energy selflessly every day. Through our Staff Engagement programme, these extraordinary individuals create meaningful impact in Jamaican communities via monthly volunteering initiatives.
It has always been important to us that communities benefit not only from the financial support of the Digicel Foundation, but also from the skills, teamwork, and dedication of our extraordinary staff. For this reason, the Foundation’s Board is made up of Digicel employees who are deeply committed to making a difference in Jamaican communities.
Beyond leadership, our wider staff body is actively engaged in volunteerism. Each employee is entitled to a minimum of one paid day off per year to participate in Foundation-led activities, ensuring they have the time and support to give back.
On average, we coordinate at least 10 volunteer activities annually, ranging from major national initiatives such as Labour Day, International Coastal Cleanup Day, Autism Awareness Day, Girls in ICT Day, Play Day Jamaica, Read Across Jamaica and our annual Christmas Treat for special needs kids.
Through these efforts, Digicel staff continue to live the values of service, bringing energy and heart to every initiative while helping to create lasting change for the people and communities we serve.
International Coastal Cleanup Day
Every year on International Coastal Cleanup Day, our volunteers roll up their sleeves to protect Jamaica’s beautiful coastlines. From removing litter to raising awareness about marine conservation, they help keep our beaches and oceans clean and thriving for generations to come.
Labour Day
Labour Day is one of the biggest outreach days in Jamaica. Every year, our volunteers come out on this public holiday to give back, whether it’s painting schools, sprucing up hospital car parks, or cleaning up community centres, they dedicate their time to making a real difference.
Girls in ICT Day
On Girls in ICT Day, our leading women in Digicel’s tech team mentor and inspire the next generation. They share insights, explore career opportunities, and motivate young girls to dream big in the world of technology.
