Digicel Foundation Puts STEM Education and Special Needs in Focus Through Summer Camps
Education and Special Needs

Kingston, Jamaica – August 13, 2025 - As part of its continued commitment to inclusive education and youth development, the Digicel Foundation this summer partnered with three programmes aimed at advancing STEM education and support for students with special needs.
The Foundation provided support to the Captain Altitude Aviation Summer Camp, the STEM Builders Learning Hub STEAM Camp, and the Hello Therapy Speech Therapy Camp, ensuring access to quality learning experiences for dozens of children across the island.
Each initiative was carefully selected to align with the Foundation’s strategic priorities of STEM education and inclusivity, particularly for children with special needs.
“At the Digicel Foundation, we strongly believe that all children, regardless of their learning or physical abilities, deserve the opportunity to explore, grow, and dream big,” said Charmaine Daniels, CEO of the Digicel Foundation. “These summer camps offered safe, exciting spaces for students to develop critical skills, gain exposure to new careers, and boost their confidence.”
The Captain Altitude Summer Aviation Camp introduced students to the world of aviation, featuring flight simulations, interactive workshops, and mentorship from industry professionals. Celene Gordon, Director of Captain Altitude, expressed gratitude for the Foundation’s continued partnership. “Without the Digicel Foundation, this camp simply would not have been possible. Aviation is an expensive field, and many of our students would not have been able to afford such an experience. This partnership gives children access to opportunities they would not normally have,” she expressed.
In like manner, the STEM Builders Learning Hub STEAM Camp focused on hands-on projects in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
Meanwhile, the Hello Therapy Speech Camp provided targeted speech and language support for children with communication challenges in a fun and therapeutic environment. Alexia Blair, Director of Hello Speech Therapy Ltd., shared, “For many of our campers, this was their first time receiving consistent speech therapy in such a dynamic, engaging way. We saw children gain confidence, improve their communication skills, and even make new friends.”
“These camps truly reflect the kind of impact we’re proud to make, which is building confidence, opening minds, and helping each child reach their full potential,” added Daniels.
