Milot, Haiti – September 15, 2026 — The Digicel Foundation continues to strengthen its commitment to education in Haiti with the inauguration of its 199th school, in the presence of members of the press, the school community, and local stakeholders.

Founded in 1999 by the local community and taken over by Children of the Promise (COTP) in 2017, the Institution Chrétienne Enfants de la Promesse (ICEP) currently serves more than 300 students, including several children with special needs. Through an approach focused on the holistic development of children, the institution provides support that addresses the educational, physical, emotional, and economic needs of families.

The new infrastructure, built for ICEP, will help strengthen access to quality education in a region where many children face significant challenges in continuing their education.

The new school complex was designed to provide students with a safe, inclusive, fully furnished, and appropriate learning environment. It includes nine classrooms, two administrative offices, a sanitation block, and a developed playground, representing a total investment of more than US$350,000.

For ICEP and Children of the Promise, the new infrastructure also represents an opportunity to further advance their mission of providing quality, values-based education and preparing students to become leaders who can contribute to the transformation of their communities and, more broadly, Haiti.

As the Digicel Foundation celebrates the inauguration of its 199th school, construction of its 200th school is underway in Cap-Haïtien at École Nationale Fondation Vincent. The project is currently approximately 60% complete and includes the construction of a school complex featuring 15 classrooms, two administrative blocks, a computer laboratory, and several other facilities designed to improve students’ learning conditions.

Nearly US$1.2 million will be invested in the construction of the school, representing a significant investment that will benefit the hundreds of students attending the institution and provide them with a more conducive environment for learning and development.

For nearly two decades, the Digicel Foundation has been working to support education in Haiti, driven by the conviction that access to quality education is one of the key drivers of the country’s development.

Over the years, this commitment has translated not only into the construction of schools, but also into the training and capacity building of teachers and school principals. The Foundation also places strong emphasis on community involvement in the management, protection, and long-term sustainability of school infrastructure, helping to ensure lasting impact.

Through these efforts, the Digicel Foundation seeks not only to build schools, but also to help create the conditions that enable children to learn, develop their potential, and grow into responsible and engaged citizens and leaders who can make a positive contribution to their communities and country.

With the inauguration of its 199th school and the construction of its 200th underway, the Digicel Foundation reaffirms its commitment to working alongside communities and partners to advance quality education and help build a better future for the children of Haiti.
