Poetry Contest: Win scholarships of US$1,000 and US$1,500 with the Digicel Foundation

Port-au-Prince – February 3, 2023:
On February 3, the Digicel Foundation launched a poetry writing contest for students and university participants under the theme:

“How youth engagement in their communities can contribute to the country’s development.”

This initiative is part of the many activities marking the Foundation’s 15 years of commitment in Haiti. The contest aims to encourage writing and reflection on the social involvement of young people.

Guidelines

  1. Participants must be enrolled in a school (NS1–NS4), university, or vocational institution in Haiti;

  2. The text must be written in Creole or French;

  3. The text must be original and unpublished;

  4. The text must not exceed 1,000 characters;

  5. Participants must include the following information and send their submission to fondation.projet@digicelgroup.com.

Required Information

  1. A photo ID of the participant;

  2. Full name;

  3. Age;

  4. Name and address of the educational institution;

  5. Proof of enrollment for the 2022–2023 academic year;

  6. Phone number;

  7. Email address.


Key Dates

  • Deadline for submission: February 17, 2023

  • Publication of selected poems: Starting February 20, the best texts will be posted on the Digicel Foundation’s Facebook and Instagram pages, where the public will be invited to vote until March 7, 2023.

  • Note: Public votes will count for 40% of the final score during deliberation.

  • Winners of each category will be announced on March 13, 2023.

  • Creole Category – University/Vocational Level: Scholarship of US$1,500

  • French Category – School Level: Scholarship of US$1,000
