25 solar streetlights installed at Lakou Souvnans by Digicel volunteers

Around twenty Digicel employees took part in a volunteer day organized by the Digicel Foundation at Lakou Souvnans, a major cultural and spiritual site in the country.
Through its employee engagement program, the Digicel Foundation actively encourages Digicel staff to get involved in meaningful actions and to build stronger and closer ties with their communities. Every year, volunteer days allow employees to go beyond their professional duties to contribute to the well-being of local communities, notably through initiatives such as mobile clinics, gift distributions, blood drives, or the rehabilitation of public spaces.
The activity held on July 18 took place at Lakou Souvnans, a site known for its historical and religious significance in Haiti. Located in the Artibonite department, this site is a living symbol of the nation’s spiritual heritage, attracting thousands of practitioners and visitors each year.
In response to the challenges related to movement around the site—particularly at nightfall—the site’s administrators, with financial support from the Digicel Foundation, undertook the installation of 25 solar-powered streetlights. This enhanced lighting aims not only to improve safety in the area but also to allow for the extension of evening activities.
This initiative reflects the Digicel Foundation’s commitment to supporting sustainable projects with strong social impact, while also promoting the cultural and heritage richness of the country. It also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and civic engagement that drives Digicel employees.
The Digicel Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers for their dedication, as well as to the Lakou Souvnans community members for their warm welcome, collaboration, and commitment to preserving this important site.
