FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 30, 2022: PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO- The team at Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago (SOTT) were thrilled to present plans and objectives of current projects to Digicel Chairman and Digicel Foundation Patron Denis O’Brien during his visit to Trinidad and Tobago.
SOTT Chairman Major David Benjamin and Technical Director Bibby Ferdinand were present to share progress on SOTT’s Secretariat. SOTT was given a space at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella through SporTT and the Ministry of Sport and Community Development. Through funding of TT$490,000 from the Foundation, SOTT has been able to construct storage for sporting equipment and gear, construct a conference room and upgrade a space for its office and secretariat.
CEO Digicel Foundation Penny Gomez was also present and shared updates on the Foundation’s 10 year journey on transforming communities in Trinidad and Tobago. The Foundation has enjoyed a lifelong partnership with SOTT through its support of National Games, World Games, SOTT Community Training Programme, SOFit and other sport for development initiatives.
Denis O’Brien also used his visit to present SOTT with an award to commemorate the Foundation’s 10 year anniversary and their outstanding partnership over the past decade.
