TUESDAY DECEMBER 28, 2021: PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – Digicel Tobago staff members also stepped forward with projects which could positively impact their various communities. Digicel Experience Store, Team Lead-Donald Groome- Mathews and Evlyn Carrington – Digicel Experience Store Associate were two of the twelve staff members to receive a TT$5,000 #ShareMore grant from Digicel Foundation.
Donald, who works with the Digicel Tobago office, purchased a convection oven, a stove and a blender for the Carrington Family in Moriah who unfortunately lost their home to a fire in November this year. Their story was a heart-wrenching one which turned into one of admiration as the events of that day described how a 7-year old child was responsible for saving the family. Donald was determined to make this Christmas brighter for the Carrington’s and he reached out to see how he could assist the family of six. He was very grateful that the funding from the Digicel Foundation initiative helped made this dream a reality. Digicel Foundation- Director, Georgina Peterkin accompanied Donald to the site where the family’s new home is being rebuilt to handover the items.
Meanwhile in Buccoo, The Buccoo Moravian Church usually prepares and distributes hampers every Christmas. The church was aiming to distribute thirty hampers this year. Digicel Experience Store Associate- Evlyn Carrington joined forces with the Church to instead distribute fifty food hampers to some families in need. Evlyn’s family and friends and the Dosfit Studio also joined efforts to complete the 50 hampers. The hampers included food items, fresh produce, feminine products, ham, cookies and non-alcoholic wine.
