MONDAY MARCH 08, 2021: PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO- Children are most vulnerable to disasters, thus it is critical to educate them on how they can prepare for and cope with disasters, build their resilience and know how to identify and reduce their risk. Digicel Foundation recognizes the benefits of Disaster Preparedness training and education through its ‘Preparing You’ programme. The programme empowers teachers and administrators to build the capacity of students with special needs, helping them to cope with an ever-changing climate and extreme weather events. Despite restrictions presented by COVID 19, Form 4 students at the Palmera’s Learning Centre were able to explore the virtual reality game ‘Masters of Prep’ which was designed as a tool to educate and prepare children on preparedness in a virtual world. The ‘Masters of Prep’ game is available for free in the Google Play store and can be played using a VR headset, a tablet or a mobile phone.
