MONDAY OCTOBER 7, 2019: PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – Health and wellness are no longer cool buzz words in T&T. In fact, NGOs have taken a keen interest in addressing fitness as part of holistic development of youth. Mobak Foundation has spent the past couple years providing life skills to help young men transition into independent living. Now they are complementing their efforts with a gym. The facility was launched on 29th September, 2019.
The Mobak Foundation partnered with Digicel Foundation to implement a fully operational gym for the young men under its charge. The US$5,000 project covered the cost of spin bikes, a treadmill, weights and weight rack, resistance bands, skipping ropes, ankle weights, medicine balls and adjustable bands to make the gym fully functional.
In expressing his gratitude to the Digicel Foundation, for its assistance in making the gym a reality, Mr. Mobafa Baker, CEO of the Mobak Foundation stated, “We are proud to launch the Mobak Muscle gym, where the young men have an opportunity to build their muscle and lives.” He went on to added, “We hope that our relationship with the Digicel Foundation will continue to grow and there will be further opportunities where we can work together and be able to expand the work that we do for the young men in Trinidad and Tobago.”
The Foundation is always open to partnerships with groups such as the Mobak Foundation that seek to provide a loving, nurturing and caring environment where these young men can grow and develop.
