CISCO AND DIGICEL FOUNDATION JOIN FORCES IN DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP PROGRAMME

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 7 2018:  PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – In continuing its commitment to the Digital Citizenship Programme, the Digicel Foundation has partnered with the Cisco Networking Academy for the period 2018 -2020.

This partnership would provide training and opportunities for skills development within secondary schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago through Component II of the Programme.  It would also provide access to courses that are aligned to Cisco’s CompTIA A+ Certification as well as ‘Train the Trainer’ courses for IT teachers in the various schools.

At the official presentation on October 19, Alex Matuschka, Digicel Group CEO and Penny Gomez, CEO Digicel Trinidad and Tobago Foundation, presented the cheque in the sum of TT$114,750.

The funds will go towards developing the technical infrastructural needs of each of the selected schools which includes the provision of computer equipment and the outfitting of the schools’ computer labs.

The principals of Chaguanas North Secondary School, El Dorado West Secondary School, and Barrackpore East Secondary School were on hand to receive the cheque.

The Digicel Foundation is thrilled to have partnered with the Cisco Networking Academy to facilitate the development of expertise and capacity-building for both students and teachers across the country.
