Crucial to the rollout of Digicel PNG Foundation’s education and health infrastructure are our building contractors. These are the people who trek jungles, cross oceans and spend weeks with communities while the projects are being constructed. Without our building contractors, many of our projects would not come to fruition. The Digicel PNG Foundation Projects Team conducts contractor training twice a year and the purpose of it is threefold: to share Digicel PNG Foundation processes and service level agreements, strengthen relationships amongst suppliers and contractors and to ensure quality expectations and specifications are upheld.
The most recent contractor training program was conducted at the Digicel Learning Centre in Port Moresby and was attended by 9 Southern Region based contractors, 4 of which are new organisations on the Foundation's books. During the training program CEO, Beatrice Mahuru, encouraged the contractors to remain withing the scope of works and ensure a quality output. "Conducting your work with integrity and producing quality workmanship will ensure that a little child who is utilizing the facility you build will have a safe learning environment allowing them to learn, grow and reach their full potential." The second contractor training will be conducted in June in Lae, Morobe Province.
