Digicel Volunteers Join Foundation to Share the Spirit of Christmas with CLCs

Happy children shriek with joy and laughter as they receive their presents from Santa Claus accompanied by Digicel staffs who are taking part in Digicel PNG Foundation’s Community Learning Centre (CLC) Christmas Program. Staff from Digicel’s Marketing, Retail and Products Departments presented gifts to 76 students at Gateway CLC in Erima’s Wildlife Settlement.

CLCs are informal pre-schools in settlements and villages which provide early childhood learning and development programs for pre-school children from the ages of 4-6 years old. Every year, Digicel PNG Foundation with the support of Digicel Ltd, visits these CLCs to thank the students, acknowledge their efforts and reward their performance in the 2015 academic year.

The visits are also an opportunity for Digicel staff to get involved in the community and see first-hand the positive impact and the outcome of Digicel Foundation’s investment in these socially marginalised communities. During these visits, 2000 gifts will be distributed to students in the 20 CLCs in NCD, Central and Gulf Province over a 3 week period.
