A Lutheran Church Agency school established in 1989, Gonowa Elementary School recently upgraded its status to a formal elementary school in 2010. On the 7th August 2015, Gonowa Elementary School officially opened its new steel double classroom infrastructure donated by Digicel PNG Foundation in the presence of the local community. “Digicel PNG Foundation is delighted to contribute this classroom project to Gonowa Elementary School and provide a conducive learning environment for the students and teachers who will utilize this classroom. We are pleased to know that our investment will have a positive impact on the surrounding community,” said Beatrice Mahuru, CEO of Digicel PNG Foundation. The Gonowa Elementary School classroom project was completed at a total cost of K 140,000 and consists of two classrooms, a teacher’s office space in between, 40 desks, solar lighting, 2 ventilation improved pit piping toilets and a 5,000 litre water tank.
