Digicel PNG Foundation proudly launched the newest program to its development portfolio –the Klin Komuniti program at Korobosea Village in Port Moresby today. The Klin Komuniti program falls under the Foundation’s focus area of community building and is designed to inform communities and indigenous people living within Papua New Guinea of the many ways in which the environment can be improved. The main aim of the program is litter reduction and beautification through action and education. The program, fully funded by Digicel PNG Foundation will be piloted in 3 sites: Korobosea and Vabukori Villages in the National Capital District and Kavieng Town in New Ireland Province. The two program partners implementing the program in these sites are Wagu Construction and Nips Cleaning Services. They signed Memorandums of Agreement with Digicel PNG Foundation at thr program launch and will report key milestones and achievements over the 3 months they run the program in their respective locations.“Digicel PNG Foundation is delighted to partner with Wagu Construction and Nips Cleaning services to enhance the litter reduction and beautification work they have been already carrying out in their respective villages and towns. A key focus area of the Foundation’s is helping communities to become self-reliant This program, although focusing on improving environment also addresses important heath and sanitation issues which we know are problems faced by many communities in the Port Moresby and across Papua New Guinea,” says Beatrice Mahuru, CEO of Digicel PNG Foundation.
