Digicel PNG Foundation and Callan SERC Rabaul recently signed a one year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the delivery of the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program in East New Britain Province. The partnership of Digicel PNG Foundation and Callan SERC Rabaul for the CBR Program in East New Britain Province aims to promote collaboration among community leaders, people with disabilities, their families and other concerned citizens to reduce disability situations through early detection, intervention and increase access to health, education and social inclusion for PWDs and their families. “Digicel PNG Foundation is proud to partner with Callan SERC Rabaul to deliver the CBR Program and we are delighted to be achieving this important milestone for both organisations. CBR is not just about physical disability; it is a holistic approach to addressing disability. One of the Foundation’s focus areas is to provide access and basic services to people with special needs and we believe our partnership with Callan SERC Rabaul will greatly enhance the current programs they are running allowing more people living with disabilities to benefit from these programs in East New Britain Province,” says Beatrice Mahuru, CEO of Digicel PNG Foundation. The MOU was signed at the Callan SERC Rabaul Office in Kokopo in the presence of the staff, field workers, livelihood officers and physiotherapists who expressed gratitude for the partnership. Peter Valuka, Founding Board Member of Callan SERC Rabaul said, “We are very grateful to Digicel PNG Foundation for partnering with us to deliver the CBR program. The funding we are receiving is very timely as it will enable us to continue the delivery of our programs with full capacity to further enhance the existing programs that are running in various locations throughout the province. We believe the CBR program will further empower the PWDs to help integrate them into their own communities and family units.”
