ALL SET FOR DIGICEL ADVENTURE ISLAND THIS SATURDAY

“We are excited about this upcoming treat for the children. This year, we are not only treating children from state-run Children’s Homes; we are also treating 200 children of vendors from the Coronation Market”,

On Saturday, December 18, 2010, the Digicel Foundation, in association with the Child Development Agency (CDA), will once again host a grand fun day for over 1,200 children  – 200 of which will be children of vendors at the Coronation Market and the remaining 1,000 will be from state-run Children’s Homes across the island. The event will be held at Digicel’s property on Lady Musgrave Road.

Dubbed, ‘Digicel Adventure Island’, this is the third consecutive year that the Digicel Foundation is hosting this treat. Speaking of the expectations on the children and the partnerships formed, Digicel Foundation’s Executive Director, Major General Robert Neish commented, “This treat has become a highly anticipated day for the children and we are looking forward to creating memorable experiences for them this season. Central to the spirit of Christmas is giving back and we are happy with the partnerships we have formed with the CDA and Corporate Jamaica in making this possible.

From 10:00am to 4:00pm, the children will be treated to nonstop excitement from rides such as the Mechanical Bull, Bounce-About, Merry-Go-Round, Trampoline, Train, Ferris Wheel, Donkey Cart Ride. Additional activities include a Game Arcade, Digicel Fun Zone, the Digicel 4G Broadband RV, plus a chance to get up close and personal with some of their favourite cartoon characters – Diego, Dora and Elmo.

In the meantime, special entertainment will be provided by the National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica and the Spectacular Dance Troupe. Additional entertainment will be provided by Digicel’s Brand Ambassadors Tifa, Jermaine Edwards, Dalton Harris, plus Cherine Anderson Also joining the list of performers is Cuferri Productions: “Our group just really wanted to give back, we thought we’d join a corporate company who was giving back to kids so we could use the whole gamut of our talents to make it even more special for the children,” shared Sherando Ferril-Cupid, Creative Director of Cuferri.

The telecommunications company has also expressed heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support they have received from corporate companies such as Wisynso, Grace Kennedy Foods, NCB Foundation, GS4 Jamaica Limited, CGM Insurance Limited, Facey Commodity Co. Ltd, Jamaica Broilers, Continental Foods (National Bakery) as well as its over 100 staff members that are volunteering to help make the day a memorable one for the children.
