Enabling youth, especially girls and underserved communities with the tools to fully participate and navigate the digital world.
The Digicel Foundation is committed to reducing the digital divide in Trinidad and Tobago. We're building civil society and private-public sector partnerships to increase access to the internet and expose youth and marginalised groups to the Information Community Technology (ICT). Increased access further bolsters efforts in education, employment, food security and other areas that can affect families' socio economic status.

Girls Power Tech (GPT)
Exposing girls and young women to careers in ICT. Through GPT we've been able to challenge youth to innovate on tech based solutions to solve social issue. Girls are mentored throughout the event and have an opportunity to meet with inspirational women and men within the ICT field. Girls Power Tech has been sponsored by Digicel Business, CISCO and Shell Trinidad and Tobago
Technology in Education (TIE) Centres
A major objective in reducing the digital divide is increasing access to technology for youth and rural communities. Through the installation of The TIE centres, we're able to meet this target in a tangible way. TIE Centres include computers, printers, furniture and free broadband high speed internet, courtesy Digicel+. These centres are located in marginalised and rural communities, schools, pan yards, shelters for vulnerable women and other underserved groups. Through increased access, we're leveling the playing field, increasing opportunities and enhancing livelihoods' for citizens.
Innovation Labs
To celebrate the Foundation's 10 year anniversary, we implemented 10 innovation labs at 10 special schools in Trinidad and Tobago. The labs were outfitted with computers, virtual reality, smart boards, smart TVs, assistive devices, specialised software, and ergonomic furniture. Students with disabilities now have the appropriate tools to navigate the tech world.
