Digicel Foundation greets the organizations competing in the finale of the "Konbit Pou Chanjman”
Friday March 2, 2018, Port-au-Prince, Haiti - As part of the "Konbit Pou Chanjman" (Come Together For Change) campaign, launched on the occasion of its 10th anniversary in March 2017, the Digicel Foundation held a meeting February 27 to March 2, 2018, with organizations from ten national departments who had been selected for the final phase. At the meeting, the organizations presented their projects before a jury and responded to the jury's questions. During the week they also attended training sessions on communication, leadership, management, and governance of non-profit organizations.
Each organization was represented by two members who had also had an opportunity to visit various projects that have already received Foundation financing, such as Healing Hands Haiti, HELP, and the "Centre Rosalie Javouhey," a school that was rebuilt in 2015. Employees of different Digicel departments and the Foundation shared with them their professional expertise in their respective areas: training, construction, sales, customer service, legal department, and others.
The finalists will return to Port-au-Prince at the end of the month for a closing ceremony during which the 10 winning organizations, one per department, will be announced and will each receive US$10,000 to implement the community project they submitted to the Konbit Pou Chanjman after its launch in March 2017. The selected projects involve several of the following areas: education, access, culture, inclusion, livelihoods, and natural disaster prevention, which are criteria established at the beginning of the campaign.
The Digicel Foundation is very happy with the course it has charted with the hundreds of organizations that have participated in the Konbit de Chanjman campaign and it reiterates its engagement to promote sustainable development in communities across the country.
The Foundation wishes great success to the following organizations, selected for the grand finale:
