History of the School:
Deron area is a communal section dependent on the commune of Pestel. There was no school in the community. For this reason, the committee took the initiative in founding the college Immaculate Conception. The beginning was very difficult as they did not have a suitable space to hold the classes.
About the school:
Deron School is a community school working with a certificate issued by the Ministry of Education. There are 340 students enrolled in the school. The school provides classes up to standard 6 and teaches the basic Maths, French, Creole, social science and experimental science.
The Board is composed of four people; the principal, a teacher, a parent and student. This committee is responsible for:
A, stimulating teachers to work better for a qualitative and quantitative performance each year.
B, ensuring the execution of the formal program established is delivered well.
The committee consists of 7 parents who monitor and collaborate with the board on the running of the school. They help to keep the school clean and protect the building. They promote regular attendance and help children return to school.
School Partners
In 2007 the Foundation DIGICEL has reconstructed and furnished the entire school. In 2008, the Foundation financially supports the payment and training of teachers.
The school is part of a food program supported by the CRS. This program has 340 students eat each day, a hot dish of rice, peas and sardines but throughout the school year.
Students are vaccinated by MSPP and are followed throughout the year.
