FINALLY A PLACE TO CALL HOME FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

THURSDAY JULY 29, 2021: PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – The love affair the Digicel Foundation has with the Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago (SOTT) is no secret. Now that 15-year relationship will bear further fruit, with the Foundation’s pledge of TT$202,000 to complete the build out of a storage space and other upgrades to the first permanent home for the SOTT. On July 21, the keys to the space to be refurbished, at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, San Fernando, were handed over to Major David Benjamin, SOTT Chairman, by the Hon. Shamfa Cudjoe, Minister of Sport and Community Development and Douglas Camacho, Chairman of SportTT.

The Digicel Foundation has nurtured its relationship with SOTT over the past decade-plus and has been the proud title sponsor of the annual Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago (SOTT) National Games for the last 13 years. Additionally, funding is dedicated towards SOTT’s Community Training programmes. These are all initiatives that bolster the holistic sport development programme for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Digicel Foundation continues to deepen its relationship with Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago and other organisations that improve opportunities for persons with disabilities.
