Health services provided by the Ulupu Health Sub-Centre in Maprik District of East Sepik Province have been further enhanced thanks to the donation of a Mobile Health Clinic from Digicel PNG Foundation. The Mobile Health Clinic, a fully kitted ambulance, was officially handed over to the Ulupu Health Sub-Centre on the 20th April in front of a one thousand member crowd. The health center will use the mobile health clinic to conduct monthly outreach clinics to service the center’s catchment area population of over 20,000 people. “The rural outreach clinics conducted by Ulupu Health Centre are of utmost importance to address rural health care to the people of East Sepik Province. The MHC will allow us to bring services to the doorstep of our rural people and we will be able to conduct immunization, antenatal checks, general medical checks and TB and malaria tests. We sincerely thank Digicel PNG Foundation for responding to our need and assure them that the ambulance will be used for these monthly clinics,” said Eddie Yehrewani, Health Extension Officer in Charge of the Ulupu Health Centre. Digicel PNG Foundation funded the Mobile Health Clinic at a cost of K180,000 which is the discounted price Ela Motors offers as part of their support to the work of the Foundation and organizations which provide much needed health services to Papua New Guinea’s rural population. Digicel PNG Foundation is proud to partner with the Ulupu Health Centre to provide quality health services to our rural communities of East Sepik Province.
