Foundation and Callan SERC Wewak Sign milestone MOU for CBR Program

Digicel PNG Foundation and Callan SERC Wewak have come together in partnership to further support and empower people living with disabilities in East Sepik Province. The two organisations recently signed a one year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the delivery of the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program. The CBR program is a holistic approach to addressing issues for people living with disabilities. “The partnership of Digicel PNG Foundation and Callan SERC Wewak for the CBR Program in East Sepik Province aims to promote collaboration among community leaders, people with disabilities, their families and other concerned citizens to reduce disability situations through early detection, intervention and increase access to health, education and social inclusion for PWDs and their families. We are delighted to partner with Callan SERC Wewak and are pleased to be achieving this important milestone for both organisations. ” said Beatrice Mahuru, CEO of Digicel PNG Foundation. One of the Foundation’s key focus areas is to provide access and basic services to people with special needs and the Foundation’s support to the Callan SERC Wewak will greatly enhance the current programs they are running to allow more people living with disabilities to benefit from these programs. The program will run for a year commencing in early May and concluding in May of 2016. It is funded at a total cost of K 92,970.00. Lucy Hansen is a person living with a  disability who works as an advocacy officer with the Callan SERC Wewak. She thanked the Foundation for recognizing the work of Callan SERC Wewak: “We value your great partnership and we believe your partnership will go a long way in supporting our work and people living with disabilities in East Sepik Province.
