Men of Honour Awards 2014 Judging Panel Announced

Friday,10th October 2014 – Port Moresby: The Men of Honour Awards, established by the Digicel PNG Foundation, to recognise ordinary men doing extraordinary things, announces the 2014 judging panel. Digicel PNG Foundation invited a group of seven – drawn from a mix of cultural, business, political, law & justice and community development backgrounds – to participate in the selection of recipients for this year’s awards. “On behalf of the Digicel PNG Foundation, I am pleased to announce that all seven accepted our invitation and have agreed to come on board as judges for the inaugural Men of Honour Awards. I’m very honoured and proud to announce our independent panel of judges comprises of the following individuals: Michelle Hau’ofa, Cassaundra Rangip, Travers Chue, John ToGuata, Eddie Aila, Douveri Henao and Francesca Semoso,” said Beatrice Mahuru, Chief Executive Officer of Digicel PNG Foundation. The Men of Honour Awards are not achievement awards, rather, they are character awards, and therefore, the judges’ main task will be to consider the nominations based on character and visit the finalists to receive a first-hand view and experience of their work in their communities. The judges expressed appreciation for the opportunity to be on the judging panel. Douveri Henao, one of the judges said, “it is indeed an honour and privilege to be part of a campaign that is aimed at addressing violence in Papua New Guinea and recognising true male champions who are role models of positive behaviour. My fellow judges and I agreed to be a part of the judging panel because we truly believe this campaign will change attitudes and create an anti-violence culture in Papua New Guinea.”
