The Digicel Foundation is pleased to have closed the second edition of its Konbit Pou Chanjman (Come Together for Change) campaign. This initiative which started as a one off event to celebrate the Foundation’s 10th anniversary in March 2017, seeks to award local organizations by financing the implementation of their community projects. Encouraged by the overwhelming success of the initiative in 2017, the Digicel Foundation launched its second edition in May 2018, and organizations desirous to implement a project were invited to apply for a grant in the following areas: education, culture, inclusion, access, livelihoods, and disaster prevention.
Over 450 applications were received from local organizations all over the country, and after analysis, 72 projects were selected for the second round which included a site visit for further evaluation. Following this process, 25 projects were selected for the third and final round. Two representatives from each of the 25 remaining organizations were invited to Port-au-Prince in late February 2019 to make their pitches to the jury, and receive governance training. The closing award ceremony was held on April 4th whereby 16 organizations were selected as winners of this year’s campaign. These organizations will be awarded 800,000 Gourdes each to implement their community project. The next Konbit Pou Chanjman campaign is scheduled to launch on May 15th, 2019.
