DIGICEL FOUNDATION CELEBRATES ITS 14TH ANNIVERSARY AND FUNDS 17 PROJECTS FOR THE FOURTH EDITION OF ITS COME TOGETHER FOR CHANGE CAMPAIGN

Port-au-Prince, HAITI - Friday, March 12, 2021: Following award ceremonies held in the country’s 10 departments, the Digicel Foundation selected 17 organizations to each benefit from a 1,000,000 gourdes grant for the implementation of their community project.

Despite a particular socio-political context, the Digicel Foundation maintained its annual Come Together for Change campaign and was able, with the contribution of the communities and its team, to respect its schedule for this fourth edition launched in June 2020. Similar to previous editions, organizations demonstrated their enthusiasm for the campaign by submitting hundreds of projects, each different from the other.

Sixty-four projects were shortlisted and field visits were made throughout the country’s ten to understand the relevance of these projects in relation to the needs of the communities and the ability of the submitting organizations to implement them. In the end, 25 projects were selected for the third phase and the representatives of these organizations were invited to Port-au-Prince to present their projects to the jury.

"In this country, we have men and women who are passionate and committed to the development of their community. This sense of commitment permeates every edition and leaves me convinced of the importance of such an initiative launched by the Foundation", says Sophia Stransky, CEO of the Digicel Foundation.

This year, the Foundation team took the decision to hold award ceremonies in the different departments due to travel limitations throughout the country.  For this fourth edition, 17 projects will be funded instead of the 15 planned at the beginning of the campaign for a total 17 million gourdes.

Sophia Stransky continues by stating that "The Digicel Foundation has been working closely with the Haitian population for the past 14 years, with education as its primary area of focus.  However, through its Konbit Pou Chanjman campaign, the Foundation is able to invest in other equally important areas.  Via the four editions, 69 projects received funding for a total of 55 million gourdes. I take this opportunity to wish each organization who won in this fourth edition great success in the implementation of their community project. "
