History of the School:

The National school was founded in Thomassique about seventy five (75) years ago by a group of citizens to meet the educational needs of the children. In 1972, a leading figure in the community donated a portion of land for the construction of the school. They built a classroom which was then split into three small rooms. Some time later, the school faced difficulties, such as dilapidated walls, lack of equipment and personnel. The Spanish Cooperation initiated a rehabilitation programme and also built three additional rooms. The DIGICEL then came on board to further rehabilitate the school and bring it to the center of education we have today.

About the School:

Thomassique is a National School working with recognition of the Ministry of Education. 415 students are regularly enrolled, 209 boys and 206 girls. The school has a cycle of 7 years of core courses in French, Maths, Creole, social science and experimental science.

The Board is comprised of 2 individuals, the school principal and a parent. The role of these two is to manage the activities of the school.

The parents' committee is composed of 4 families. The committee works to help parents in all areas of the school by providing a good environment for the school.

Partners of the school:

In 2007 the Foundation DIGICEL reconstructed and furnished the school. In 2008, the Foundation financially supports the payment and training of teachers. The school is part of a food program. This program is supported by the BND, which gives a breakfast food for teachers and students every day, throughout the school year. Students are vaccinated by the MSPP.
