Digicel Foundation continues to make an indelible mark in developing communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Our mandate encourages public private sector partnerships, enabling community based organisations to implement sustainable social interventions. Our small grants programme; EPIC – Extraordinary Projects Impacting Communities, was launched in 2016, and to date has benefitted over 12,000 persons in Trinidad and Tobago. The US$5,000 grant initiative has been accessed by 39 communities for a series of indoor and outdoor projects.
Our work in emotional literacy for young children between the ages of 5-8 years, has spanned a four year relationship with NGO partner; the School Leadership Center of Trinidad and Tobago. The ultimate aim of the programme is to equip students with the tools and language to make their own decisions and resolve everyday conflict.
Social Entrepreneurship programmes continue to be a major focus for the Digicel Foundation. To date the impact that we’ve made in Matura and Brasso Seco/Morne La Croix through community partnerships, are model examples of community sustainability at its best. The Digicel Foundation will continue to mobilise social change by empowering NGOs and CBOs to develop projects that are people oriented and community driven.
