MONDAY NOVEMBER 12 2018:  PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – A ribbon cutting ceremony took place to mark the opening of a new Homework Centre and Training Room in the Corinth/Cedar Hill community.

This was achieved through the efforts of the Corinth/Cedar Hill Coordinating Committee, when they partnered with the Digicel Foundation EPIC (Extraordinary Projects Impacting Communities) Programme. Through this partnership, the Committee received funding to the sum of US$5,000 to develop the Homework Centre and Training Room. Some renovations were conducted to bring the space up to standard, and equipment was then purchased and the space outfitted to make the area fully functional.

Anwar Baksh, Member of the Corinth/Cedar Hill Coordinating Committee, at the opening ceremony thanked the Digicel Foundation for its support. Baksh further encouraged all members of the community and their children to utilize the Centre. Shawn Premchand, Councillor for the Corinth/Cedar Hill District commended the work of the Committee and their success in realizing the establishment of such a much needed Centre.

Several tertiary institutions were approached by the Corinth/Cedar Hill Coordinating Committee, to provide training courses at the Centre with the aim to building capacity within the community. These courses are expected to commence within the upcoming weeks.
